The choice between photochromic lenses and interchangeable lenses depends on individual preferences and needs. Photochromic lenses automatically adjust to changing light conditions, making them convenient for everyday use. On the other hand, interchangeable lenses allow for more customization and versatility, as they can be easily swapped out for different tints or polarizations depending on the activity or environment. Ultimately, the better option will depend on factors such as lifestyle, activities, and personal preferences. **

Opticians typically offer brown and grey photochromic lenses because these colors are the most popular and versatile options for a wide range of lighting conditions. Brown lenses provide excellent contrast and depth perception, making them ideal for driving and outdoor activities. Grey lenses are neutral and provide true color perception, making them suitable for everyday use. These two colors also tend to be more aesthetically pleasing and versatile, making them the most commonly offered options for photochromic lenses. **

No, the photochromic layer cannot be removed from self-tinting lenses. The photochromic layer is an integral part of the lens material and is designed to change its tint in response to UV light. Attempting to remove the photochromic layer would likely damage the lens and compromise its functionality. If you are looking for non-photochromic lenses, it would be best to choose a different type of lens that does not have this feature. **
